TESTING

12 x shot storyboard (recce). For FMP go to the location and take 12 shots of something to do with the FMP - helps testing.

If you can get an external monitor for a DSLR the do it!

Aperture - three pillars/exposure triangle

three pillars are aperture, ISO and Sutter speed

1. aperture

→how much light is let in

→f-stop : (closed) small f22

: (open) large f2.4

→average set is to f8 - "f8 be there"

→when you're shooting at f22 nearly all of the shot will look 'in focus' 

→when you're shooting at f1.4 only the foreground OR background will be in focus

→so the less light you let in to the camera there more it wants to focus on everything

→depth of field at a low f-shop is shallow and the aperture is very open, minimum f-stop is important

lenses

fixed (prime) one focal length

zoom - when zoomed out the aperture is one number

- when zoomed in it will increase the f stop number

-pro lense has a fixed aperture no matter what 70-200mm f2.8(low light situations)

2. I.S.O

photography not video 

it's the sensitivity of the film roll

100 asa and 200 asa

for quicker moving images you will need a higher asa eg. sporting videos will be 400 asa/iso and a dolphin jumping out of the water would be 800 asa/iso

3. Shutter speed (blinking)

high shutter speed lets in less light because the lense is mostly shut

1/4 mean quarter of a second

1/250 means half of a second

DSLR's can go to 1/4000 - shortest - most in focus

30 seconds - longest (for stills) - less

→As humans, we pick up the colour green twice as much as the colours red and blue.

→Sensor in a DSLR captures the image (b&w also known as photolithography)

→Photolithography is tiny wells in silicon layer that determine whether the pixel is black or white. →Other colour layers as filters are above.

SENSORS

ccd, cmos and Foveon x 3 - different types 

→White balance - AWB. Interior and exterior.  HUE Kelvin (explore)

→candle 1,000k - blue sky 10,000

→Black balance - new camera calibration

GAIN

→Low light conditions - AVOID using gain

→you can increase and decrease the gain - make sure to test it

rule of thirds - eyes of picture should be at the second line

- focal length between lens and bird is measured by the camera (measured in meters)
